The developerWorks: Lotus site you see today has evolved from being Notes.net and then the Lotus Developer Domain (LDD). It is now part of the overall IBM developerWorks technical resource web site.
developerWorks: Lotus is geared to information technology professionals--including developers, administrators, and IT managers--who use Lotus software from IBM. It is the next generation of the popular Notes.net web site, and is brought to you by the same team who built Notes.net.
developerWorks: Lotus is also brought to you by the developers of the products. The developerWorks: Lotus team is part of the Lotus software development organization at IBM, and as such, has direct connections to those with the most technical expertise about Lotus products.
Our mission is to act as a technical resource, product testing environment, and product showcase.
As a technical resource, developerWorks: Lotus nurtures the Lotus technical community by providing:
- Discussion forums that encourage the exchange of ideas and information among community members.
- Technical articles about all Lotus products with in-depth technical articles, how to articles, interviews, tips, columns, and coverage of selected events.
- Demos that let people try out Lotus software and technology first-hand.
- The Sandbox, where members of the community can share (upload and download) code samples, templates, sample applications, and so on.
- Software beta programs that include downloads, forums, bug reporting, technical articles, and other useful information.
- Related links to other resources and information of interest to Lotus technical professionals (training and education, webcasts, certification programs, support, sales, and marketing).
As a product testing environment:
- developerWorks: Lotus uses Lotus products to create and run the site. See the list of software and hardware we use to power the site.
- Early deployment of products on the site provide additional testing and feedback for development.
