Detailed Description:
This tool allows administrators to monitor their server uptime performance. This update is Y2K compliant.
For more information on MTBF, see the
Iris Today
article, "
Measuring your Domino server's reliability
."
To use the MTBF:
Unzip mtbf.exe
Extract the MTBF template
Extract add-ins based on the platform you want to monitor
PC platforms (nmtbf.exe - NT/Intel; amtbf.exe - NT/Alpha; imtbf.exe - OS/2; vmtbf.nlm & vmtbf.dll - NLM)
If you are upgrading please delete the old mtbf.exe and copy the following files as is to the Domino Server Program directory as is.
UNIX files (mtbf.aix & mtbf.res.aix - AIX; mtbf.sol & mtbf.res.sol - SOLARIS SPARC; mtbf.sol.x86 & mtbf.res.solx86 - SOLARIS X86; mtbf.hpux & mtbf.res.hpux - HPUX; mtbf.hp.461 & mtbf.res.hp.461 - HPUX 4.6.1; mtbf.res.linux & mtbf.linux - LINUX)
Following the download, rename mtbf.xxx to mtbf and mtbf.res.xxx to mtbf.res and copy to appropriate directories and set appropriate permissions.
OS/390 files (mtbf & mtbf.res)
Following the download, copy to appropriate directoires and set appropriate permissions.
iSeries platform (mtbf.savf & mtbfifs.savf)
Send the two attached save files to your iSeries and place in library QGPL. (ftp commands to send files from client to iSeries from an established ftp session):
cd qgpl
quote site na 1
bi
put mtbf.savf mtbfs.savf
put mtbfifs.savf mtbfifs.savf
Restore the objects with the two commands:
RSTOBJ OBJ(MTBF) SAVLIB(QUSRNOTES) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(QGPL/MTBF)
and
RST DEV('/QSYS.LIB/QGPL.LIB/MTBFIFS.FILE') OBJ(('/qibm/userdata/lotus/notes/*'))
Copy the mtbf template file to the Domino data directory:
CPY OBJ('/qibm/userdata/lotus/notes/mtbf.ntf') TODIR('/Domino_datadir')
Change the owner back to QNOTES:
CHGOWN OBJ('/Domino_datadir/mtbf.ntf') NEWOWN(QNOTES)
The remainder of the setup instructions for MTBF are the same as the other platforms and can be obtained from the article on notes.net.
Read the Using document for usage instructions in the MTBF template
Additional descriptions of changes made to the files can be found in the readme.txt file included in mtbf.exe
