The solution that worked in this instance was to install the recommended IBM ODBC drivers on the LEI and MySQL hosts, and use those instead of the default MS drivers. The IBM drivers were downloaded from the Passport Agreement site, (64bit CZM48EN), (32bit CZIQ7EN)

This resolved several odd SQL errors I was getting in several different jobs. Good luck!
