If you install the Oracle Client on the same machine as your Domino server, you don't require any further connectors or other software on this machine. However, there are a few considerations for this client installation:
1. You must configure the client for a connection to the back-end Oracle server. Since DCTest is working, I assume this is done.
2. If Domino is 32-bit, you must use a 32-bit Oracle Client. Likewise for 64-bit, they must match.
3. For Domino 8.5.3, the Oracle 10G and 11G clients are supported. (On Windows 2003 specifically, the older Oracle 9i client is supported as well)
4. The Oracle client version you are using must be compatible with the Oracle server version you're using.
If you continue to have problems, please post the entire error message you are receiving.
