You should not have to do anything special to stop an activity, aside from hitting the Stop button. However, you shouldn't normally have to do so. If you are having problems that are forcing you to halt an activity hard, such as a hang; or problems with Timestamp replication not reading some timestamps (that may or may not be a result of the first problem), we would need a lot more detail to assist with those problems. You may, in fact, want to open a ticket with IEI Support for that.
