Creating a database copy without documents is easy, but how do you create a database replica without documents? To create an empty, but fully initialized local replica of a database, do the following:
  1. Select the database that you want to make a replica of.
  2. Choose File - Replication - New Replica.
  3. In the Create Replica for Database dialog box, complete the server and file path fields, and then click More Settings.
  4. In the Replication Settings for dialog box, select the Advanced tab.
  5. Select the Document by selection formula option, and then enter the following formula:

    Select Blah = "nothing";

    Replication Settings dialog box
  6. Click OK to save your settings and to return to the Create Replica for Database dialog box.
  7. Click OK to create the replica.

This formula creates an empty database with an initialized ACL. After you create the replica, remove all of the selective replication settings from the new local replica.

Now you can mail or copy the empty database. After you put it on a server or workstation, it will replicate the entire database the next time replication starts with any server that has a replica of the complete database. It is not dependent upon a specific server.
